De grande valor nutritivo, são ricas em vitaminas B e C, em açúcares e pectinas, que têm grande poder de absorção. Os frutos são consumidos crus, em compotas e doces, geléias e vinhos. No Brasil, a maçã é cultivada principalmente nos estados do sul.
