Solanum lycocarpum Saint Hilaire

O Planalto Central Brasileiro, localizado na Região Centro-Oeste, éum espaço dominado quase que totalmente pela vegetação do tipo Cerrado. Embora presente em outras regiões do Brasil é no Planalto Central que o Cerrado predomina de forma Contínua, ocupando cerca de 1.500.000 km2.

Nele, tem-se a forte impressão que os processos adaptativos ao ambiente deixaram marcas profundas nas plantas. Nesse contexto invulgar e misterioso, as flores destacam-se em todo o seu esplendor.

Solanum lycocarpum Saint Hilaire

A família Solanaceae possui aproximadamente 96 gêneros amplamente distribuídos nas regiões tropicais e subtropicais do mundo.

Solanum lycocarpum, vulgarmente conhecida como Lobeira e Fruta-delobo. é uma das espécies do gênero mais comumente encontrada no cerrado brasileiro. Caracteriza-se por ser uma árvore ou arbusto com até 5cm de altura, com folhas simples, alternas, lanceoladas e coriáceas.

Os frutos dessa espécie são os maiores do gênero, chegando até 13cm de diâmetro. Fazem parte da alimentação do lobo-guará e do homem, sendo usados na confecção de doces e geléias. São usados, ainda, na medicina popular, em tratamentos contra o diabetes.

Encontra-se distribuída nos Estados de São Paulo, de Minas Gerais, de Goiás, de Mato Grosso e dolocantins, além do Distrito Federal.

SOLANUM LYCOCARPUM SAINT HILAIRE 

The Solanum lycocarpum has more than 96 genera widely distributed around tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The Solanum lycocarpum, popularly known as "Lobeira" and "Fruta-de-lobo", is one of the species of the most commonly found genus in the Brazilian cerrado. It is a tree of shrub that reaches up to 5 meters, with simple, alternate, lanceolate and coriaceous leaves. The fruit of his species are the biggest of the genus, reaching 13cm of diameter. They are part of the feeding habits of "lobo-guará" and men as well. They are used in the making of preserves and jams, and also in popular medicine, in the treatment of diabetes. It is found in the States of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso and Tocantins, as well as in Distrito Federal.
